What makes this Yamaha rare? The LSX-400 was a limited run in 2004 and never imported for sale in the U.S. making this model quite hard to find. Created specifically for recording sessions or live performances the guitar is equipped with a two-way pickup system, an internal microphone in the soundhole and a L.R. Baggs Ribbon Transducer under the bridge. This LSX-400 was built by Yamaha’s master craftsmen at Yamaha’s Music Craft workshop in Japan in 2003 for the 2004 catalog.

Per Yamaha, “The preamp section incorporates a Blend Control to mix the tight acoustic sound of the Ribbon Transducer with the warm and rich acoustic tone of the condenser mic. A 4-band equalizer equipped with an Adjustable Midrange Frequency controls other precise sound tailoring of the overall tone.”

The OM shape is constructed with mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, and a stunning solid Sitka spruce top. The fit and finish is exquisite, abalone purfling and rosette, and custom mother of pearl fret inlays on an ebony fretboard, ebony bridge.

The seller rates this as an 8.7 out of 10 due to slight buckle rash on the back and a few very minor incursions in the binding edging.  Freedom hardshell case included.
