Teisco TG-64 Electric Guitar 1965, Monkey Grip - Made in Japan - Fair Condition
Up for sale is this vintage circa 1965 Teisco TG-64 electric guitar. This is a pretty good example of a rare, higher-end Teisco model, but it does come with the typical issues that plague these Japanese guitars from this era so please read the entire description and see all of the photos.
This guitar is mostly original with the exception of the tremolo arm (missing), bridge cover (missing), and a few screws (including one tuner gear screw). At one point, one of the tuners was changed and was put back to original, but extra holes remain (pictured). The non-original nut has been non-professionally shimmed, but since it works we left it alone. The original model tag was screwed down on the back of the body at some point. The electronics have just been tested and everything works as it should.
Cosmetically, the instrument is in fair condition for its age, showing numerous dings, scratches, and scuffs. There are some areas of finish touch up as well, including a large ding by the tailpiece. There is a small, superficial crack coming off of the neck pocket (pictured), but it is structurally sound.
The instrument is playable, but is pretty typical for a Teisco: poor fretwork, medium action, some buzz in spots. That being said, if you're familiar with these guitars, we'd call it about average. The neck is straight and the truss rod is functional.
No case or gig bag is included, but the instrument will be well-packed to ensure safe shipping.
If you're looking for a guitar that plays like a Gibson, this one isn't for you. If you like quirky, budget friendly, old Japanese guitars, this one might be just for you!
