Gibson Les Paul Custom 1978 Cherry Sunburst
Couldn't load pickup availability
Up for sale is a 1978 Gibson Les Paul Custom in excellent condition. Serial number is 70128513, made in Nashville. This guitar features a solid mahogany body with a cherry sunburst finish (there is slight discoloration on the neck). It has a slim taper maple neck with ebony fingerboard.
The nut width is 1.69" while the 1st fret is 0.78" and the 12th is 0.98". The scale is 24 3/4" and there are 22 frets. There are mother of pearl inlays for the position markers and headstock insignia. The frets are low fretless wonder frets and pickups are the highly desired Gibson T-tops, a slightly cleaner PAF. The tuning pegs and hardware are metallic gold coloring with slight pitting on the tuners. One volume potentiometer has been replaced but everything else is original.
1978 is a prized year for the LP Custom and was the best selling year for this model of the entire decade. The cherry sunburst finish, while not super rare, is not nearly as common as finding an ebony finish as half of the models shipped in 1978 were ebony. Original chainsaw hard shell case included.
