Gibson L-50 Archtop 1934
Couldn't load pickup availability
Up for sale we have a 1934 Gibson L-50 Archtop in very good condition. The serial number is 181A. The L-50 is a 16" carved-top archtop and in 1934 the model featured a flat-backed L-00 sized body with a carved spruce top. Introduced in 1932 design changes occurred for nearly 20-years before the specs were finalized in the early 1950s. As an example, in 1933 the guitar was given a flat back, and in 1935 the body shape was changed to 16” at the lower bout.
It has a comfortable V neck with 1-3/4" nut and 24 3/4" scale. Overall length is 39 3/4" (101 cm.), 14 3/4" (37.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/2" (8.9 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. This is a 19 fret guitar with ebony fretboard, pearl dot inlays and pearl Gibson logo.
It has a sunburst spruce top, dark stained back and sides finish, maple body, and mahogany neck. The pickguard has been replaced (which is common) with an unbound acrylic tortoise shell pickguard. All other components of this guitar are original. This guitar has been set up by our in-house luthier and is ready for stage/recording! Please note the wear on the front and back of the body. Original case included.
