Epiphone Emperor E112T 1966 - Sunburst - Very Good Condition
Just in is this gorgeous 1966 Epiphone Emperor Model E112T. This guitar has the most incredible curly spalted maple top and is extremely comfortable to play with its very slim body and neck profile. The guitar is completely original with the exception of the neck pickup, bridge, and tailpiece. The tailpiece is from Sam Koontz, and the neck pickup was swapped out for a full size Gibson patent number humbucker pickup that sounds fat and warm giving this guitar the perfect blend of jazz and rock tones. The build quality of these guitars are amongst some of the best that Gibson ever produced under the Epiphone brand.
The inlay on the peghead features the vine of the same style used on the New York built Epiphones, and the fingerboard inlays with pearl blocks and abalone-V center wedge are the same style used on the New York-made Emperors. The guitar features an 18 1/2 inch wide maple body, ebony fretboard with two volume knobs and two tone knobs, one three-position toggle such that the wiring is like a Les Paul Custom or SG Custom with three pickups. In that system, the three-position switch gives a normal lead sound and normal rhythm sound, but the middle position gives the middle pickup and bridge-position lead pickup out-of-phase, for a super twangy sound – there is no normal “middle” sound.
The Gibson made Emperor was never made in large quantities, and in 1963 the model was only available as a special order. These guitars are perhaps the finest sounding version of the electric Emperor ever made. The guitar comes packed in the original case.
