Up for sale is this vintage circa 1982 Electra MPC X950 Vulcan electric guitar. This instrument has some electronics issues and is priced to reflect this. It is being sold "AS IS" and "AS FOUND," so please read the entire description and see all of the photos.

This guitar came in with 100% non-functioning electronics. Our tech took some time to spray everything out and to see if anything jumped back to life, which the neck pickup did. The neck pickup does work at full volume with some wiggling around of the controls, but nothing else functions and he didn't dive into it further. He also noted that the battery leads for the MPC modules are missing, so we can't even begin to comment on whether or not that circuit works. Both main switches are bent, which is generally the case with these guitars.

Cosmetically, the instrument is in nice condition for its age, but does show wear. There are numerous dings, scuffs, and scratches including a fairly large one on top (pictured), some on the back (pictured), on the back of the headstock (pictured), and a few on the back of the neck that can be barely felt while playing (pictured). There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs. The instrument looks to be all original and intact, with the exception of not including any cartridges and the fact that both original pickup rings are broken in several places.

Our tech installed a fresh set of strings, cleaned it up a bit, and oiled the fretboard. The guitar plays nicely with comfortable action, although it could probably use a little more tweaking. He noted some fretwear and divoting, but the frets still have a lot of life in them and could easily handle a leveling. He also noted a ding into the 14th fret on the B-string that catches on bends, so a leveling may be the best course of action to get this one to 100%. The neck is straight and the truss rod functions as it should.

No case or gig bag is included, but the instrument will be well-packed to ensure safe shipping.

If this guitar was turn-key with a case, we'd have it listed for $1,299. This is a very good deal on a guitar that, with a little love, should make someone a great gigging guitar with a lot of style and a whole lot of quality for the money. Again, due to the listed issues, this one is sold "AS IS".
