D'Angelico Excel 1956 - Sunburst - Very Good Condition

Here is a beautiful 1956 D’Angelico Excel cutaway. This guitar plays beautifully and sounds great. As a working musician's guitar, it has had work done to it over the years but maintains its distinctive character, feel, and playability.
The guitar has had quite a history as the original owner had modified the instrument by installing 2 humbucker pickups into the top, added 2 output jacks to the treble side of the body using 1 for each pickup, and had the original strap loop removed from the side of the neck heel and replaced with a different strap button to it’s current position.
To rectify these modifications, a new top was made for the guitar back in 1983 by famed luthier Carlo Greco. Carlo also filled 2 output jack holes on the treble side of the body, replaced some of the binding, and applied a layer of clear lacquer to the sides of the body, neck, and back of the headstock as it looks to have had a bit of work done around the headstock to repair some dented or chipped wood. He also made a replacement pickguard as the original degraded long ago. The original neck heal binding cover is degrading a bit as shown in the pics. The guitar's endpin is also a bit loose possibly due to shrinkage.
Aside from the repairs made to it over the years, the guitar is in very good condition and is setup with nice low action, plays, and sounds great. Comes packed in a very well-fit and durable hard shell case. Check out the demo video of this guitar included within this listing.
